The Instrument and Controls Technician II position installs, maintains and repairs the measuring and control devices used in industrial, commercial processes and Water and Wastewater facilities.
- Inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control generating operations in Water and Wastewater plants: Inspects meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations.
- Tests accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors, and other recording, indicating or controlling instruments to locate defective components in system, using test equipment, such as pressure gauges, mercury manometers, potentiometers, pulse and signal generators, oscilloscopes, transistor curve tracers, and ammeters, voltmeters, and watt meters.
- Operates pneumatic, electronic and microcomputer devices used to measure and control pressure, flow, temperature, level, motion, force, and chemical composition.
- Repairs, maintains and calibrates level, pressure and flow telemetry; installs, maintains, repairs and calibrates all types of process instrumentation used for monitoring water/wastewater parameters such as level, pressure, flow, chemical concentrations, turbidity and pH consult with and advises process operators.
- Communicates orally and in writing with co-workers and supervisory personnel concerning routine and emergency system functions, maintenance and installation.
- Performs mathematical computations and writes reports.
