Port of Seattle Human Resources Project Manager in Seattle, Washington

Some of what you'll be doing:

As the HR Project Manager, you'll oversee HR initiatives, ensuring efficient resource coordination to improve employee culture through programs like Onboarding and Performance Management. You'll work within Organizational Effectiveness, collaborating with workforce strategy, HR analytics, technology, and communications to enhance the employee experience. Our HR department fosters collaboration, innovation, and opportunities for personal and organizational growth.

  • You will lead cross-functional team meetings and steering committees, directing multi-faceted stakeholder groups while ensuring that priorities remain aligned, quality/regulatory standards are adhered to, and work is delivered in ways that are cost effective and meet the competing interests of each stakeholder group.

  • You will develop, adapt, monitor and communicate project plans that outline strategy, business goals, milestones, staffing, budgets, risks/issues, detailed task breakdowns by function, and schedules.

  • You will establish and build a network of positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and outside partners/vendors to establish agreements or contracts, resolve issues, exert influence, and ensure high quality project outcomes.

  • You will provide peers across the HR department with expertise and guidance as requested on effective project management, planning, and continuous process improvement.

  • You will organize and facilitate regular meetings utilizing standard project management methodology and practices to provide project teams and stakeholders with overall direction.

  • You will remain current on industry best practices for HR programs and technology products and continually apply this information to propose and build change efforts.

Who you are:

  • Experienced – You have five (5) years of experience in Human Resources and two (2) years of experience in project management.

  • Desired – We hope you have any of the following certifications: Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) Senior Human Resources Professional (SPHR), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), or International Project management Association (IPMA) HR Certified Professional (IPMA-CP).

  • Collaborator – You can work with diverse internal and external stakeholders at various levels of the organization to build relationships while leading teams toward optimal solutions.

What else you need to know:

  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.

  • Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.

  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
