Machine Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will operate and monitor barrel plating equipment, ensuring quality and performance standards are met. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor barrel plating equipment to meet quality and performance standards.

  • Make necessary chemical additions and replace anodes as needed.

  • Follow barrel plating process flow accurately to ensure product and process quality.

  • Startup and shutdown the barrel plating line and operate the control panel according to standard procedures.

  • Perform weekly and monthly preventative maintenance activities, including tin tank change-outs using vacuum, hoses, brushes, and power tools.

  • Coordinate with the wastewater coordinator for barrel plating operations.

  • Complete all required paperwork accurately.

  • Perform SAP confirmations and print labels using a desktop computer.

  • Monitor the quality of parts produced by performing visual inspections to identify defects.

  • Support and participate in 5S, EHS, Quality, and GLSS programs by following approved practices, performing clean-up activities, and recommending improvements.

  • Fulfill responsibilities detailed in any control plan associated with this position.

  • Train in Vibratory and Annealing processes and rotate in both areas as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficient in using quality tools related to this position.

  • Ability to operate safely in a high-pressure environment.

  • Proactive and able to work independently as well as with others with limited supervision.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs and stand throughout the shift.

  • Availability to work regularly scheduled hours with overtime as needed.

  • Flexibility to work an alternate shift as required.

  • Working knowledge of SAP and basic computer skills.

  • Prior plating operations experience preferred.

  • Basic mechanical skills and troubleshooting experience.

  • Experience with machine operation, general production, and using hand tools.

Work Environment

  • Air-conditioned facility with a separate air filtration system.

  • Department operates 19 machines and consists of 8 people.

Shift

  • 1st Shift: 6 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday

  • 2nd Shift: 4 PM - 2:30 AM, Monday - Friday

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
