What is the Director of Operational Excellence?

The Director of Operational Excellence is a leadership position at Clark-Reliance, reporting directly to the VP of Operations.  The Director plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization's operations.  Leads company's operational efforts in process improvement, business efficiency, and operational strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and execute strategies to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  2. Lead the Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and CNC Programing teams as well as work with cross-functional teams to drive process improvement initiatives, identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to drive operational excellence.
  3. Develop and manage the quality and manufacturing engineering budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support strategic initiatives and achieve quality and cost reduction targets.
  4. Create and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational performance and create a culture of performance and accountability.
  5. Oversee the deployment of Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies to reduce waste, improve process flow, and increase productivity.
  6. Lead the development and implementation of continuous improvement strategies across all operational areas to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  7. Train and mentor staff on best practices and principles of operational excellence.
  8. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and devise effective operational strategies.
  9. Conduct regular reviews of operational processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.
  10. Create detailed reports on the progress of initiatives and their impact on business operations.
  11. Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  12. Manage human resource activities within the area of accountability, to include staffing, performance management, salary administration, employee relations and other related activities.
  13. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
  14. Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
  15. Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
  16. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  17. Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
  18. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned. 

     

Required Experience and Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field required (Master's preferred) or commensurate experience plus Associates degree in technical or business related field.  Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
