Location: Torrance CA
Pay: $28.26/HR
Shift : 5:00 am to 1:30 pm
About the Role:
As a Research & Development Prototype Fabricator at PDS Tech Commercial, you’ll play a key role in transforming ideas into reality. You’ll assist engineers with prototype fabrication, working with a range of tools and machinery to create custom parts, modify existing designs, and bring creative solutions to complex challenges. Your work will directly impact the success of groundbreaking research and development projects, and you’ll be trusted with a great deal of autonomy and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Vertical Mill Operation (60% of the time): Master the art of vertical milling to fabricate high-precision parts and support R&D projects.
Manual Lathe Operation (30% of the time): Use manual lathes to shape, cut, and modify parts for prototypes.
TIG Welding (10% of the time): Perform TIG welding on various components to meet exact specifications.
Machining: Operate manual lathes and milling machines to create one-off parts and modify existing ones based on requests.
CNC Operation: Utilize a 3-axis CNC machine for precise machining tasks (prior experience is a plus).
Wire EDM Support: While not mandatory, any familiarity with wire EDM processes is beneficial, and support is available from the team.
Fabrication: Take on sheet metal work, hand forming, and other fabrication tasks necessary for project completion.
Problem Solving: Provide expert guidance to engineers and clients who may need clarification or solutions to complex problems.
Timely Execution: Deliver high-quality work within deadlines, maintaining high standards of precision and craftsmanship.
Required Qualifications:
Experience: 4-6 years of hands-on experience with vertical mills and manual lathes (classroom experience does not apply).
Skills:
Strong proficiency in Vertical Mill Operation .
Experienced with Manual Lathe Operation .
Ability to perform TIG Welding .
Solid experience in machining , CNC operation , and fabrication .
Problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
Ability to adapt to new tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous exposure to Wire EDM operations.
Familiarity with additional manufacturing processes is a plus.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment while maintaining organization and efficiency.

Pay Details: $28.26 per hour
