Wilbarger General Hospital Vernon, Texas Job Description Job Title: House Supervisor Department: Wilbarger General Hospital Job Summary: The House Supervisor is accountable for oversight of the scheduled shift as the on-site representative for the hospital. This position will delegate responsibilities and deliver quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Will round on all patient care and staffed areas on shift. Will carry a phone for ease of access for staff and administration. This position will report to the Medical Surgical Director. Job Qualifications: A. Registered Nurse with at least 4 years of experience. B. Recent Emergency Department or Intensive Care Unit experience required. C. Previous Leadership/Nursing supervisor experience preferred. D. Current ALS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications, De-escalation training (obtain within first 90 days if not current) E. Personal Job-Related Skills: Effective strong oral, written communication, strong critical thinking skills, and collaboration skills are a priority. Ability to operate business office equipment including personal computers and possess basic computer skills. F. Physical and Mental Requirements: Position requires moderate periods of standing and walking and sitting for extended periods. Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, and lifting to 50 pounds. The ability to comprehend and follow routine written or verbal instructions or directions. Ensure nursing operational standards are met. D. Provide reports on productivity, quality, and customer service metrics. E. Ensure all staff follow policies and procedures. F. Evaluate nurses performance. G. Handle complaints or other issues H. Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Resolving or escalating staff, patient, family concerns to appropriate leadership. Notifies appropriate leadership per admin guidance. De-escalation training required. I. Collaborate with M/S charge nurse, ER Charge Nurse, Radiology, Respiratory and Laboratory to ensure staff are provided break coverage. J. Aware of insufficient staffing and facilitate in obtaining staff when needed. Collaborates with the M/S and ER charge nurse for staffing needs. Performs staffing reach out to fill open staffing needs or delegates this task to fill any sudden changes in staffing. K. Strong clinical skills. Able to function as a team member as well as leader to ensure quality care for patients. Appropriately cross-trained to other departments. L. Ensure competency with dual EMR systems. M. Responds to all Rapid Response Code Blue events, is the team leader in these events until the arrival of a provider. Performs Code Debrief. N. In collaboration with Med/Surg and ER, coordinates with the patient care units any patient transfer to higher level of care. O. Assists with other audit and surveillance duties as assigned. P. Performs as the Incident Commander with any Fire, Life, Safety issue until an administrator is on site. FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700 preferred. Q. Communicates with ancillary and support departments on patient conditions, needs, and concerns such as any CT/MRI downtime, lab analyzer down time. R. Responsible for filing reports as designated. S.
