Job Title: Production Supervisor

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Production Supervisor for both 2nd and 3rd shifts. You will directly supervise 30-50 employees in a production department(s), ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Key responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning and directing work, conducting performance appraisals, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet internal and external needs.

  • Compute the amount of stock and supplies required for operations based on production schedules and requisition materials from the storage area.

  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assign duties.

  • Plan the flow of materials through the department and develop the physical layout of machines according to work orders.

  • Interface with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.

  • Inspect and measure parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.

  • Direct workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.

  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.

  • Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.

  • Maintain time and production records.

  • Develop capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.

  • Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with scheduling.

  • Experience with performance management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or one to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.

Work Environment

The work environment is not climate-controlled, and employees must be flexible on shifts. Supervisors need to be open to working other shifts when necessary for coverage or due to departmental changes. Steel toes, safety glasses, and own tools are required. The job involves regular standing, walking, talking, and hearing, as well as frequent use of hands to handle or feel and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $65000.00/yr.
