Work Schedule: 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Summary:

This position is accountable for the proper preparation and service of food for distribution to patients, standing requests, and special events.

Responsibilities:

  • Properly and safely pre-prepares, prepares, cooks and assures portion control of hot and cold foods in a correct and timely manner. Minimizes waste.

  • Assures preparation of designated foods for the tray-line. Sets up tray-line steam-table and serves menued patient hot foods.

  • Assures preparation of designated foods for the dining area and standing requests.

  • Assures preparation and service of designated foods for special events.

  • Properly opens/secures work area and turns on/off equipment during shift.

  • Inspects and tastes food for quality of preparation, service and presentation.

  • Follows regulations pertaining to kitchen sanitation and the proper handling and service of food.

  • Maintains a clean work area. Washes pots, pans, utensils, equipment, pot/pan sink area, and helps aide with dishes.

  • Assists in accurate receipt, placement, and rotation of food and supplies. Breaks down cardboard boxes.

  • Trains new cooks.

  • Maintains good working relationships with patients, physicians, dietary staff, visitors, and all personnel.

  • Performs other essential duties as assigned.

  • Supervises procedures in the absence of the supervisor.

  • Assures that leftovers are adequately stored, labeled and placed in the refrigerator or freezer as necessary.

  • Attends in-service training.
