Job Title: Lathe Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Lathe Machinist to operate a large lathe for machining parts up to 40 feet long. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, tool changes, and other maintenance tasks. This role requires experience with cranes and rigging to move large parts being machined, as well as strong math and geometry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a large lathe for machining parts up to 40 feet long

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with the lathe

  • Perform tool changes and maintenance on the lathe

  • Utilize cranes and rigging to move large parts

  • Apply math and geometry skills in machining tasks

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of equivalent experience operating a large lathe

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Experience with cranes and rigging

  • Setup and basic programming experience

  • Strong math and geometry skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in the paper roll industry preferred

  • Ability to work 2nd shift

Work Environment

This position is located at a smaller site in Westbrook, with a moderate noise level in the shop. The work environment includes an all-weld shop, and employees are required to wear steel-toed shoes.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westbrook, Maine.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $34.00/hr.
