ABOUT THE ROLE
The Systems Engineer is responsible for plant process control system [PCS] specification, application programming, testing, commissioning and maintenance. The incumbent applies the PCS as a tool for improvement of plant performance. Responsible to ensure 24-hour reliability of all process control and environmental systems, perform a wide range of duties including: system administration, system design, risk assessment and management, budget development and management, hardware and software
implementation and integration, network analysis and troubleshooting, and creating and maintaining documentation. Other responsibilities include facilitating use of the PCS as a resource for Process, Maintenance, Production, Shipping, Environmental and Quality Departments.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
Develop SAP transaction skills in the PP, PM and BW modules for production data entry, maintenance notifications, purchase requisitions and reports.
Coordinate and communicate with suppliers and contractors of systems/equipment/services.
Prevent downtime due to faults; continuous improvement to HMI and programming to both extend life of existing PCS and facilitate eventual replacement.
Support installation of new plant equipment from conception to operation. Assure integration of new systems into plant operations.
Use of the PCS to provide information for management or other reporting functions (high degree of involvement with environmental reporting and permit compliance)
Work closely with Process Engineers to analyze, improve and document all aspects of operations.
Responsible for integration, maintenance and application of systems, as well as incorporation of equipment areas previously outside PCS scope, conversion of relay logic systems and replacement or integration of PLCs.
Maintain and create up to date system functionality documentation providing commissioning support for all new or modified programming. This includes follow up training and coaching for clear understanding (example: Kiln Inlet Analyzer operation)
Provide plant specific IT support for all process systems and provide point of contact for corporate IT with business systems (PC upgrade plan, CAT 5, fiber, switches, etc.)
Maintain and Optimize all Control Systems (Including but not limited to TIS, Shell Scanner, Programmable Logic Controller, View Nodes, SCADAS, CEMS, Engineering Stations, Variable Frequency Drives).
Programming of PLCs, HMIs, VMWare Network Virtualization
Work closely with the Process Department, Environmental Department, and the Electrical Department to establish, maintain and manage instruments, installations, standards, control programs, maintenance programs, certification cycles/programs to meet operational and regulatory compliance.
Work closely with the electricians, assisting with troubleshooting to verify and monitor correct function of the technology applications and devices.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Computer Science, Electrical/Instrumentation, Process Control, Electrical Engineering
Required Work Experience: 5 - 7 years preferably in the cement industry
Required Computer and Software Skills: High level computer and software skills
Travel Requirements: Minimal
Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
